Celebrate the Year of the Dragon!

Mills 50 and the Chinese American Association of Central Florida are hosting a Dragon Parade and Lunar New Year Festival on Sunday, February 5.  The parade begins at 11 am and will travel on Hillcrest Street from Hampton Avenue to Mills Avenue.  23 units will participate.  The Lunar New Year Festival takes place from 11 am – 3pm on the parking lot of Colonial Photo and Hobby.  Enjoy Asian food, arts and crafts and entertainment.  The event is free and open to the public.

Mills 50 Jingle’n Mingle is Sunday, December 11!

Don’t miss the second annual Jingle’n Mingle on Sunday, December 11 from 2pm – 5pm at Lake Highland & Mills in the Armstrong Locks parking lot and adjacent area.  Rock100 DIZ’s Mick Dolan will be the emcee and dj.  Shop for holiday gifts from local businesses – The Great Escape Frame & Art, Armstrong Locks, Eola Eyes, Long Family Chiropractic, ThinkLive Be Properties, Track Shack, the Central Florida YMCA and local vendors – Earthy Habitat, Chef Rob-Bee, The Urban Farmer, Distinctively DeSue, Creature Comfort Pets and local artists – Lauren Galant and Danny Rodriguez.  And don’t forget to buy your Mills 50 Art Box calendar at the Mills 50 booth.  Get your photo taken with Santa by DeVore Photography.  Learn the art of origami from Al Aki.  Enjoy great eats from La Empanada and Fish Out of Water food trucks.  The DailyCity.com and YELP! will be on site with giveaways.  Be entertained by magician, facepainter and stiltwalker.  Enjoy live holiday music from Edwin White.

Eola Eyes wins national recognition!

Eola Eyes, a Mills 50 Corporate Business Member, was recognized this week as an innovative optical retailer by a national vision care publication, Vision Monday, in the first annual Design and Retail Excellence (D.A.R.E.) awards! They also received the “Seeing Green” award for “most daring eco-achievement” and were the only retailer in the nation to be nominated for two awards.  Eola Eyes, recipient of a City of Orlando 2010 facade grant, is located at 519 N.
